Since 1992, our firm has been providing independent, objective and insightful solutions for individuals and businesses. Our expertise ranges from basic tax management and accounting services to more in-depth services such as audits, financial statements and financial planning.

Our Mission

Doty, Lyle and Jones, LLC, established in 1992, is a full service accounting firm providing the highest quality tax, accounting, audit and consulting engagements. Our mission is to create value and maximize wealth for our clients by providing professional, personalized attention through timely and accurate service.

We endeavor to build a cordial relationship that continues throughout the year, rather than an association limited to year-end contact.

Our Team

Rick Doty, CPA, MBA

Rick G. Doty, CPA, MBA Rick is a life-long Colorado resident and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a BS degree in business with areas of emphasis in accounting and marketing. He received an MBA degree from the University of Colorado at Denver. His professional experience of over 30 years includes serving as a Partner with a large multi-office, 50 professional staff CPA Firm and Managing Partner of a local firm which he co-founded in 1980 and developed into a 15 person organization. Rick is a Past President of the Colorado Society of CPAs, a 9,000-member organization and has served on the Governing Council of the American Institute of CPAs, a 300,000-member organization.

Rick’s specialties include business and management consulting as well as not-for-profit, individual and business income tax consulting.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Boulder Chamber of Commerce and the Boulder Optimist Club.

 



William F. Jones, Jr., CPA

Bill is a Colorado native and graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver. His 16 years of professional accounting experience includes six years of private-industry accounting experience, including two years with one of the nation’s largest real estate developers, where he was involved with various aspects of accounting and treasury areas. Prior to joining the firm in August 2000, he has worked for two other local CPA firms as an audit, accounting and tax manager.

Some of Bill’s areas of expertise include business and management consulting, financial reporting, individual and business income taxes, business and accounting software consulting, office automation and database design. Bill has overseen engagements from small, privately owned companies to companies with over $ 1 billion in revenue.

Bill has specialized knowledge and industry experience in the following:

Professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, Rocky Mountain Surety Association and the Construction Financial Management Association. Bill also participates in various other community and civic organization and activities.

Since a lifestyle change in 2003, in which he became a committed recreational athlete, Bill lost 80 pounds and now regularly spends time swimming, cycling and running in training for various triathlons and marathons.

He also greatly values time with his wife Annie, (a Boulder native herself), and his 3 children (two sons and a daughter). He looks forward to kisses and hugs from them at the end of the day and enjoys seeing them succeed in new things.

 



Tom DeBie, CPA, CIA – Audit Manager

Tom graduated from San Diego State University with a BS in Accounting. He has worked in the public accounting field since 2000.

Tom’s specialties include small business, homeowners’ associations and not-for-profit auditing and financial reporting and individual and business income tax preparation. Tom is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and is on the Board of Directors of the Longmont Humane Society.

 



Dave Sheanin, MBA - Business Consulting Manager

Dave Sheanin is the manager of DLJ Business Consulting Group. Before joining DLJ, he spent 10 years as President of LISI, an information management firm contracted with the U.S. Department of Justice, where he was responsible for

  • all corporate fiscal and HR matters

  • quality of service offerings
He is educated and experienced in

Dave has three years of experience as the executive director of an educational firm in Boulder, Colorado, seven years of experience as a corporate and educational trainer, and has taught classes at the university level.

Dave earned his Masters of Business Administration degree in entrepreneurship and organizational management at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is passionate about sharing his experience to help small and mid-sized businesses achieve success by developing the right people within an effective system.

He enjoys the many adventures that come from having three children—he and his wife spend countless hours at pancake breakfasts, recreation center swimming pools, and PTA events. In his "spare" time, Dave is certified USA Swimming coach, assistant coach of the University of Colorado Triathlon Team, and a competitive age group triathlete who has earned honorable mention all-American distinction.

Richard J. Leonard, CPA - Tax Manager

Rich has over 30 years of experience in the practice of public accounting. He joined DLJ in 2007.

His career began with the Internal Revenue Service followed by employment with a national accounting firm. Rich has specialized experience and knowledge that includes IRS representation and industry specific experience in real estate, professional services (medical, legal and engineering), manufacturing, construction and sales (wholesale, retail and restaurants). His other practice areas include international and multi-state tax compliance, estate and gift, mergers and acquisitions, business succession planning, entity selection, fringe benefits and qualified retirement plans.

Originally from the Midwest, Rich attended Augustana College and the University of Iowa with degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. He is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s and the Colorado Society of CPA’s. Over the years, Rich has served on various professional, trade and volunteer and advisory boards, including the Lions Club, Estate Planning Councils, Chamber Leadership Groups, Youth Baseball and Softball Leagues and Golden Parks and Recreation.

Rich has a passion for sports and enjoys the Colorado outdoors with softball, golf, hiking, snow shoeing and has recently taken up skiing. Kayaking is next on the list.

 



Stacie Harris - Staff Accountant

Stacie has been preparing individual and business tax returns since 1997. She recently completed the applicable business and accounting courses at Metropolitan State College of Denver required for her to sit for the CPA Exam. Stacie joined the staff in June of 2005 and works with tax and audit clients.

 



Don Young, CPA, MBA - Staff Accountant

Don graduated from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas with an MBA with emphasis in accounting in 2007. He worked with a public accounting firm in Austin prior to relocating to Colorado with his family. Don joined the Doty Lyle & Jones team in January 2011. He specializes in preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, estates, and small businesses and has performed audits for small companies.

Prior to earning his MBA Don had approximately 20 years experience as a Professional Engineer working both coastal and environmental engineering projects.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. Don is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor® and recently completed all the sections of the CPA exam and is currently completing the paperwork for licensing.

Originally from Buffalo, New York Don likes to spend his spare time with his wife and two boys enjoying the Colorado outdoors. His favorite activities are biking, running and hiking. He hope to add mountain biking and cross country skiing to this list as soon as possible.

 



Iris Newsome, MBA, CPA - Staff Accountant

Iris received her BS degree from Syracuse University in Special Education then worked on Wall Street working as a portfolio manager at Lehman Bros. Kuhn Loeb. She received her MBA from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in accounting and finance. She worked in Los Angeles for Arthur Andersen specializing in the field of financial services--working on and subsequently supervising audits of major banks and brokerage firms.

Upon returning to New York, Iris worked as the Treasurer for an auto insurance company specializing in the sub prime population. She was a major participant in the preparation of a planned initial public offering.

As she moved from New York to Connecticut to Massachusetts to Michigan and ultimately to Colorado, Iris was very involved in adopting and raising three children, while continuing to work in pubic accounting at small to mid size regional firms specializing in business consulting and tax planning and preparation for both individuals and small businesses.

Iris loves to play tennis and is an active member at several Denver tennis clubs. She donates her time and accounting expertise to a non-profit that enhances underprivileged children’s lives with offering them an opportunity to learn the game of tennis while providing tutoring services. She enjoys exercising, running, skiing, traveling, sewing and reading in her spare time.

 



Andy Dick, CPA – Senior Accountant

Andy graduated from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas with a BBA in Accounting and Finance. He has been a member of the Doty, Lyle and Jones team since June 2007. His experience includes small business and not-for-profit auditing and financial reporting and individual and business income tax preparation.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Andy grew up in Colorado and enjoys spending his spare time with his wife Hannah. He recently took up fly fishing and enjoys the opportunities to fish the abundance of rivers and streams Colorado has to offer. His other hobbies include hunting, golf and softball.

 



Mary Ann LeDosquet – Staff Accountant

Mary Ann joined Doty, Lyle, and Jones in January 2010. She specializes in preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, estates, and small businesses. She enjoys helping clients recognize opportunities to save money. She is also a skilled QuickBooks™ consultant, and for the past ten years has assisted clients in understanding and utilizing their accounting software to maximize their profitability.

Mary Ann received her BS Degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University in Rexburg, Idaho. Since graduation she has worked in a number of accounting roles, ranging from being a full-charge accountant for a large multi-entity company, to payroll management, to tax preparation. She is currently working toward her CPA certification.

Originally a native of Seattle, Washington, Mary Ann has grown to love Colorado, and plans to stay here permanently. She enjoys spending time outdoors camping, hiking, swimming, and skiing with her husband and daughter.

 



Kathleen Watt - Office Manager

Kathleen Watt graduated from Westchester University of Pennsylvania with a degree in elementary and special education. After a career teaching first grade, she moved to Colorado from Massachusetts. She joined Doty, Lyle & Jones in 2000.

Kathleen manages many of the behind the scenes tasks that keep the company running smoothly including accounting functions, human resources, and software upgrades.

She loves to visit her family in Arizona. When she’s not at work or doting on her grandsons, Kathleen can be found on the golf course, biking, hiking, or travelling to the mountains.

 



Alessandra Downey – Administrative Assistant

Alessandra has worked in a business administrative capacity for over 25 years, and has worked with accounting firms for the past 5 years, joining Doty, Lyle and Jones in June of 2007. She is the friendly face and voice who greets you when you walk or call in, remembering who you are even if you’ve not been in contact since the last tax season.

Alessandra came to Colorado with her husband Liam, a tenured professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and her 3 sons, the eldest of which lives in Denver. She is a member of the Resonance Women’s Chorus of Boulder, the Boulder Handweavers Guild and the Community Knitting Project.
