Our Mission
Doty, Lyle and Jones, LLC, established in 1992, is a full service accounting firm providing the highest quality tax, accounting, audit and consulting engagements. Our mission is to create value and maximize wealth for our clients by providing professional, personalized attention through timely and accurate service.
We endeavor to build a cordial relationship that continues throughout the year, rather than an association limited to year-end contact.
Our Team
Rick G. Doty, CPA, MBA Rick is a life-long Colorado resident and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a BS degree in business with areas of emphasis in accounting and marketing. He received an MBA degree from the University of Colorado at Denver. His professional experience of over 30 years includes serving as a Partner with a large multi-office, 50 professional staff CPA Firm and Managing Partner of a local firm which he co-founded in 1980 and developed into a 15 person organization. Rick is a Past President of the Colorado Society of CPAs, a 9,000-member organization and has served on the Governing Council of the American Institute of CPAs, a 300,000-member organization.
Rick’s specialties include business and management consulting as well as not-for-profit, individual and business income tax consulting.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Boulder Chamber of Commerce and the Boulder Optimist Club.
Scott graduated from the University of San Diego. He has since been engaged in the accounting, tax and auditing profession. In San Diego, Scott began his career working for both regional and local CPA firms where he gained extensive accounting, tax and auditing knowledge.
Scott then worked for large local firms in the Walnut, California area. He worked with both small and medium sized businesses. He became a junior partner in one of these firms and gained considerable experience preparing corporate tax returns and financial statements for small and medium sized businesses.
Scott joined our firm in October 1996 and in October of 1997 became a principal of the firm. His specialties include business consulting, business accounting, software consulting, specifically QuickBooks® and individual and corporate taxes. Scott heads our Business Tax department.
Scott is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Community Association Institute and the Erie Chamber of Commerce. He has served on numerous Boards of Directors and is currently on the Mountain View Fire Protection District’s Board of Directors. An ex-college athlete, he donates his time to teach and coach both youth baseball and football.
While he calls himself an avid golfer, his wife lovingly describes him as an avid golf fan, “who tries hard.”
Bill is a Colorado native and graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver. His 16 years of professional accounting experience includes six years of private-industry accounting experience, including two years with one of the nation’s largest real estate developers, where he was involved with various aspects of accounting and treasury areas. Prior to joining the firm in August 2000, he has worked for two other local CPA firms as an audit, accounting and tax manager.
Some of Bill’s areas of expertise include business and management consulting, financial reporting, individual and business income taxes, business and accounting software consulting, office automation and database design. Bill has overseen engagements from small, privately owned companies to companies with over $ 1 billion in revenue.

Professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, Rocky Mountain Surety Association and the Construction Financial Management Association. Bill also participates in various other community and civic organization and activities.
Since a lifestyle change in 2003, in which he became a committed recreational athlete, Bill lost 80 pounds and now regularly spends time swimming, cycling and running in training for various triathlons and marathons.
He also greatly values time with his wife Annie, (a Boulder native herself), and his 3 children (two sons and a daughter). He looks forward to kisses and hugs from them at the end of the day and enjoys seeing them succeed in new things.

Tom graduated from San Diego State University with a BS in Accounting. He has worked in the public accounting field since 2000.
Tom’s specialties include small business, homeowners’ associations and not-for-profit auditing and financial reporting and individual and business income tax preparation. Tom is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and is on the Board of Directors of the Longmont Humane Society.
Dave Sheanin, MBA - Business Consulting Manager
Dave Sheanin is the manager of DLJ Business Consulting Group. Before joining DLJ, he spent 10 years as President and board member of LISI, an information management firm contracted with the U.S. Department of Justice, where he was responsible for all corporate fiscal and HR matters, new business development, contract compliance, and quality of service offerings. He is educated and experienced in small business formation, organizational management, entrepreneurship, and intrapreneurship.
Dave has three years of experience as the executive director of an educational firm in Boulder, Colorado, seven years of experience as a corporate and educational trainer, and has taught classes at the university level. As an undergraduate at the University of California, Irvine, he created a health and safety education program that continues to serve the university community today.
Dave earned his Masters of Business Administration degree in entrepreneurship and organizational management at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He enjoys the many adventures that come from having three children—he and his wife spend countless hours at pancake breakfasts, recreation center swimming pools, and PTA events.
William E. Morris, CPA – Tax Manager
Bill graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Accounting, and has a wide range of experience handling all aspects of accounting work, specializing in taxation of individuals, small businesses and farm and ranch activities including corporate, partnership, fiduciary and estate returns and related research, report preparation and documentation.
Bill worked for local firms in Northeastern Colorado for eighteen years and most recently was the Senior Tax Manager for a regional firm for four years in Nevada before joining Doty, Lyle & Jones in May of 2008.
In his free time Bill likes to fish and partake of life in the out-of-doors, as well as spend time with his daughters Kimberly and Kristen and his loving wife, Jane.
Richard J. Leonard, CPA - Tax Manager
Rich graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois with a BA in Accounting and Business Administration. His 30+ year career began with employment with the Internal Revenue Service followed by employment with national, regional and local accounting firms. Rich has a wide range of specialized experience and knowledge in individual and business taxation consulting including industry experience in wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing, real estate and construction, medical, legal and other personal service industries, international and multi-state taxation, fringe benefits and qualified plans.
He is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s and the Colorado Society of CPA’s. Rich has served on various professional, trade and volunteer boards. He currently serves on the Golden Parks and Recreation board as appointee by the Golden City Council.
Stacie Harris - Staff Accountant
Stacie has been preparing individual and business tax returns since 1997. She recently completed the applicable business and accounting courses at Metropolitan State College of Denver required for her to sit for the CPA Exam. Stacie joined the staff in June of 2005 and works with tax and audit clients.Neil Chambers – Staff Accountant
Neil graduated from University of Colorado with a BS in Accounting. He is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. Neil is currently working on his requirements to sit for the CPA exam. His specialty includes individual tax preparation.Neil will have been married for 2 years in July. He is a Colorado native, whose hobbies are golf, riding his Harley and spending time with his new dog Kona.
Andrea Marino - Staff Accountant
Andrea graduated from University of Colorado with a BS in Accounting in May 2007. Andrea is currently working on her CPA certification.Andrea grew up in Colorado and graduated from CU boulder. She loves playing tennis, volleyball, and basically any racket sport.
Andy graduated from Abilene Christian University with a B.B.A in Accounting and Finance in May 2007. He is currently working on his requirements to sit for the CPA exam.
Andy was recently married in August 2007. He has lived in Colorado since 1992 and currently resides in Longmont. His hobbies include baseball, golf, hunting and fishing.
